caudalie favorites kit, caudalie beauty elixir, caudalie hand cream, caudalie sorbet cream
Happy spring everyone! Hello to all of my newest Bloglovin' followers. I was so thrilled to see new followers that I felt I had to blog today, considering I haven't done so in a few months. Thank you so much for stopping by! I am sure you're all as excited for spring as I am, and I don't think I could stand the sight of another snowflake. I have been inspired by all things green and flowery. New succulents joined my home, including the hawarthia pictured above, and they are loving the longer, sunnier days just as I am. I have been buying more flowers than usual and wearing much brighter colors.

bumble and bumble pret-a-powder review
A new dry shampoo has arrived onto the beauty scene, and I couldn't be more thrilled. I'm a redhead in desperate need of preserving my hair color, and anything that can keep my hair from looking oily a few days after washing is a daily essential. I have enjoyed Bumble and bumble's most recent Thickening products, including the Dry Spun Finish and Full Form Mousse in keeping my thinly textured hair from looking flat, but the addition of Pret-A-Powder to my routine has been astounding.

nars cactus flower, j crew necklace, bobbi brown shimmer brick nectar, coral nail polish, butter london, deborah lippmann, dior, dolce & gabbana
Have you grown tired of the dull wintry skies and heavy layers? The dark nail colors and piercing cold wind? There is little I can do to escape what remains of winter, but adding touches of color into my day have provided a little consolation as I wait for spring. Grey clouds overtook my city in the past weeks, and it felt like I had not seen the sun in ages. It was blissful to experience the sunshine again once it did come out, I pulled out a bright coral merino scarf purchased years ago in Italy and began wearing it along with bright coral blush. It is quite a juicy shade for January, much more reminiscent of summer cocktails and fresh market nectarines. Yet the contradiction of it all makes it feel more refreshing to me, a little promise that spring is on the way, despite the intense snow storms for some of you!

Hello to my newest followers on Bloglovin'! In the typical new year spirit, I am ambitious with plans to bring this blog back to life very soon with fresh ideas and new posts. I am dying to make some positive changes in the new year, from buying some flowers for my home, as the winter as been quite dark and cloudy, to starting yoga again. I managed to enjoy some sunshine this weekend and felt positively blissful with the dreams of spring.

The blog concept, enjoying life's frivolities, is still my focus and my passion. But I do not want to limit myself to beauty reviews alone; rather I want to focus on lifestyle blogging to encompass beauty, skin care, lingerie, but also food and wine, art and design, style and travel. In the early months of this blog, I overextended myself, trying to write long articles and then burned out quickly. Like many of you, my interests are so varied and interconnected, and lately I find much of my inspiration from Instagram. One day it's the seductive pictures of Dior polishes for spring. The next, I am dreaming of hikes in Cinque Terre and seafood pizzas in Venezia. Thanks for coming along as I make sense of it all. Things probably will not change as drastically as I am making it sound, but it's fun to live creatively and passionately and frivolously all at once.

Things I have been loving lately:  REN's gorgeous repackaging of their Moroccan Rose line, Diptyque Orange Chai for cold wintery days, Bumble and Bumble's Thickening Full Form Mousse to keep my hair looking alive between washes, and a charming Rifle Paper Co. card that deserved a frame (Ikea).

Thank you for reading!

diptyque holiday 2013 pine bark candle voluspa branche vermeil
A crazy feeling has come over me in recent weeks that I simply cannot survive the Canadian winter without beautiful candles to fill my home. I have been content over the years to have a few inexpensive candles on hand, saved exclusively for pampering bath time, but now I want them everywhere. And I want them to look and smell luxurious, burn clean, and have containers I would happily reuse. Quite my chance, I stumbled across the Diptyque holiday candles at my local Holt Renfrew, and that was obsession was born.

geisha ink mascara, mac 138 brush
Let's be real - I write endlessly positive reviews, as do many bloggers, because it's a lot funner talking about the things we love! And it's unfortunate to spend money optimistically on a product and buy into the hype. Now these two products are not total failures, and I am certain that many people have used and loved them. I happened to enjoy them myself for a while. But once their failings appeared, it lead me to look elsewhere for better products, and I will not be coming back to these.
